Hello!! My name is Racyne Sugai and I am the Founder, Owner, and International Hair and Makeup Artist of Sassarella.

Artistry has always been a part of my life. I love all things creative…drawing, painting, crafting, etc. Growing up, I took art classes in the summer, attended craft classes with my mom, and spent hours sketching in my notebook. When I graduated from High School, with the encouragement of my Aunt, I started my own jewelry line that was sold in local stores in Hawaii.

Fashion was also of interest to me. I was always obsessed with wedding gowns-the big ball gowns, the intricate beading and lace… and then there were the models, with their perfect bodies and the perfect hair and makeup… The entire look was like something out of a fairytale. I wanted to somehow be a part of that fairytale and now I am.

My professional career started over 10 years ago sparked by a love for art and fashion. I am now a licensed Cosmetologist in the State of Hawaii. My specialty is airbrush makeup and my signature, a flawless natural beauty look, is what is sought after by such a diverse clientele – from local, national, and international models to brides, professional body builders, business women, and beauty queens. I am also a former beauty queen and model, so I know firsthand, what every client who sits in my chair is looking for: a natural yet completely flawless look; one could even say, a more polished version of themselves. Even though I am based in Honolulu, Hawaii, I am also available for travel.

Currently, my work has been featured in New York Bridal Fashion Week, Honolulu Fashion Week, in various runway shows, commercials, magazines, and print ads. I have worked in Paris, Tokyo, Las Vegas, New York, Lanai, Big Island of Hawaii, Maui, and Oahu.

I had the privilege of being the Makeup Director for a Hawaii luxury photo shoot involving artists from across the globe. Occasionally I can be seen on Hawaii’s local news outlets as a guest beauty expert and if you look really hard, you may catch a glimpse of me as an extra on Hawaii Five-O.

One of my goals is to never get stuck in a beauty time warp. I love to learn new things and work with other artists. It helps keep me in touch with the latest trends and products and it gives me valuable insight from other successful artists. I believe every opportunity is a learning experience-in both life and in work.

The motto I founded my company on, “for the modern-day princess” embodies the picture-perfect beauty and confidence that my artistry creates.
